Snezhinka 3D Modeling

This was a 3D character model learning project I did in order to learn all the parts of character modeling in blender including rigging & texturing. The character I’m modeling is the main character Snezhinka from a pixel side scroller game of the same name.

PROCESS

This was my first time doing a 3D model project of this scale. I have small experience with modeling in blender and nowhere near anything as complex as how this project was gonna be. Everything I do while making the model will be a learning process with lots of trial and error.

As the game was a pixel graphic side scroller, their wasn’t any clean side or front profile art available as reference for the character modeling. The first thing I did as a result was draw a clean front and side profile reference that I could go to use when modeling.

Rough Base Coloring

I felt it would be a bit empty just having the character as a standalone so I decided to go and model the main firearm Snezhinka carries, the Ka42. The pistol was modeled using the in-game icon as reference but as their is only a side-view available, the width of the pistol had to be guessed.

Modeling

My experience with 3D modeling was limited so I modeled with less polygons to make it easier. Using just enough polygons to create the forms needed while also looking good enough for my own preference.

Rigging

After adjusting some textures and doing some light detailing, I completed the texturing of the model (Please note the details on the gif is not 100% color accurate). With that I finished all aspects of the model and all that’s left was having fun with posing and possibly animating.
